There will be a TV duel, a face-to-face match between Giorgia Meloni and Elly Schlein.
But in the meantime, the prime minister will confront almost all the opposition leaders, those who sit in the Chamber: one at a time they will question her
at prime time, on Wednesday afternoon in Montecitorio
.
The topics will range
from the stability pact to cuts to healthcare, from compensation for the victims of Nazi massacres to the crisis in the Middle East.
The prime minister will be urged by the president of the M5S, Giuseppe Conte, by the secretary of the Italian Left Nicola Fratoianni for the Verdi-Left Alliance, by the secretary Riccardo Magi for Più Europa, as well as by the secretary Schlein for the Democratic Party.
The majority forces will also ask their questions:
Forza Italia has announced one on privatizations, the League on policies for the elderly, FdI on policies for the South, Noi Moderati on the inclusion allowance.
Meanwhile, Meloni discussed international issues in a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel,
in view of the extraordinary European Council on February 1st.
"In addition to the prospects of approving the revision of the EU multiannual budget 2021-27 - Palazzo Chigi said - the main themes of the international agenda were discussed, starting from the Russian aggression of Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East and in Red Sea".
These latter topics will also be the subject of questions in the Chamber.
"We want to know - is Fratoianni's question - what the Italian government's position is with respect to Netanyahu's clear opposition to the birth of a Palestinian state and what initiatives it intends to propose also at the European level for an immediate ceasefire and to make the solution of the two Peoples and two States".
Pd and M5s focus on internal issues, which have characterized the political battle of recent months.
Conte brings the stability pact back to the table: "The government has supported Germany and France - he has often repeated in recent days - for an agreement by which cuts and taxes of over 12 billion a year will be imposed on Italy".
In the Chamber, the M5s group leader Francesco Silvestri will ask "what changes Meloni intends to make to ensure that the new governance of the stability pact does not sacrifice investments in health, school and ecological transition".
Conte will speak in response to the prime minister.
Schlein's speech will instead focus on cuts to public healthcare, a strong theme of the
Pd campaign, to find out if there are initiatives to "abolish the spending cap for the hiring of healthcare personnel".
Magi's question (more Europe) is on compensation to the families of the victims of the Nazi massacres
, to have "clarification on the news according to which the State Attorney's Office is apparently opposing many requests, with the aim of preventing children and grandchildren of Italians who were martyrs of their homeland be compensated."
For the opposition, question on employment in the Stellantis and Magneti Marelli factories by Azione and on the support of the agricultural sector for Iv.
