In the video: The last residents are evacuated from Sderot/Yinir Yagana
Data published on the government website of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, showing the vacant apartments in public housing throughout the country, reveal that as of today, and for more than three months, 196 apartments have been empty.
This, let's remember, at a time when about 150 thousand evacuees from the north and south are looking for a place to live, and are sometimes even required by the apartment owners to pay ridiculous amounts.
Among others, the apartments that are empty are in the following cities: Arad, Haifa, Nof HaGalil, Mitzpe Ramon, Or Akiva, Beit Shean, Dimona, Tirat Carmel, Tiberias, Hazor Galilit, Zichron Ya'akov, Kiryat Malachi, Tel Aviv, Shelah, Migdal Hamek, Ma'ale Ephraim, Afula, Enav, Acre, Netivot, Kerat Arba, Katzrin and more.
This, in addition to dangerous areas that were not taken into account, such as Sderot, Kiryat Shmona and Ofakim.
According to Alex Tanzer, a social activist in the field of Russian immigration, "Especially today, when there are more than 150,000 war refugees from the north and south, and there is a severe lack of temporary housing solutions, it is shocking to see that 196 apartments have been empty for more than three months. The Ministry of Housing and Construction needs to wake up and immediately transfer the apartments to the possession of Israeli citizens who are in need, after renovating the apartment if necessary."
