The 24-hour national public transport strike proclaimed by the grassroots unions, Cobas Lavoro Privato, Cub Trasporti, Usb, Adl, Sgb, Cobas workers associations and Orsa, is underway throughout Italy.
The metro, bus and tram service is at risk for the whole day, but will in any case be insured during the guarantee periods.
At the basis of the protest, which also includes a demonstration in Rome in the morning in front of the Ministry of Transport, there is the request for "salary, safety and rights".
"With ever-decreasing investments in workplace and service safety, with exhausting work shifts that lead to people fleeing this profession, the only way that this government identifies to intervene is to disarm the category of the only real tool that workers have at their disposal to assert one's rights: the strike", states the USB.
