Three people, one story: Konrad, who grows up during the Second World War and dreams of studying medicine.

Brigitte, who grows up in the post-war period and looks for her own path to independence.

And André, who began his career as an athlete in the GDR in the 1970s.

Three individual life stories until their paths become fatefully intertwined.

The working-class boy Konrad swears to the beautiful Selma from a rich family that he will study medicine in order to cure her disabled sister Alma.

Only the Nazis enable him to fulfill his oath.

Brigitte has to flee to the West with her parents against her will and revolts against everything and everyone.

This ultimately drives them into the arms of the RAF.

André's parents died in a car accident.
