The celebration of a
baptism was tinged with tragedy
in the town of Las Malvinas de San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza.
It was when a 45-year-old man was with his family and decided to enter the waters of the Atuel River, near Route 179. The current dragged him and he began to ask for help.
But his loved ones thought it was a joke and the man
drowned.
The dramatic episode occurred around 6 p.m. this Tuesday, when
Hugo Llanos,
a Bolivian national, was participating in a family celebration.
Under these circumstances, he entered the bed of the Atuel and was dragged by the force of the river.
Suddenly, he disappeared from the surface.
At that moment, downstream, he began to signal to his relatives to
ask for help
.
However, they believed that
he was making a joke
, as they themselves confided to the police officers who were alerted to the situation after a 911 call.
A second communication entered the Strategic Operations Center of the provincial South from bathers who, while cooling off in the river, had observed
a body floating face down.
He was a robust man.
It was the same Llanos.
When police personnel went to the scene, they managed to find the victim and removed him from the channel.
The agents began performing
cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers
on him until he arrived
an ambulance and the driver continued with the exercises.
Minutes later the medical staff arrived and
confirmed the death.
The tragic event occurred hours after a video about another dangerous episode in Atuel went viral.
These images captured the rescue of a young woman who was stranded on an islet in the middle of the river, after having fallen from the raft in which she was rafting.
The images, recorded last Friday, show two guides from a tourism company trying to get the girl out of that place.
According to the reconstruction of the newspaper
El Sol,
it occurred in an area where the current is strong, near the sanctuary of the Virgin of Valle Grande, in San Rafael.

The woman had to fight against the current and she was finally saved with a rope.
According to the video creator's comment, the girl would have fallen from the rubber due to a

during a point of high current.
In addition, two other occupants also fell from the raft, although they managed to remain next to it.
The young woman, for her part,
was stranded on a strip of land
in the middle of the Atuel.
There the rescue operation began, by the two guides.
First, they told him the maneuver he had to perform to get out, which included jumping onto a rope tied with a float.
At one point, the situation became tense, as another raft with more tourists was sailing along the river behind.
The girl raced against the clock.
Finally the guides managed to drag her to a safe area.
Another drowned in Entre Ríos
Yesterday, Villaguay Volunteer Firefighters personnel found the lifeless body of the man, who had disappeared on Sunday afternoon when entering a stream in that city of Entre Rios, in an area that was not authorized for immersion due to the large flow that the course presented. of water.
The victim, identified as
Alejandro González (31),
entered the stream with a friend last Sunday around 6 p.m., in an area known as
"La Bomba"
in the municipal spa of Villaguay, in the center of Entre Ríos.
As could be established through witnesses, the man
suffered pain that made him lose control
and he was dragged by the current until he disappeared from the surface.
Meanwhile, the other young man was also dragged, but managed to grab a branch and began shouting for help, until two canoeists managed to rescue him.
He was taken to a local health center, where he recovered.
The coast currently has restricted access to water, since the flow of the stream has increased and it is unavailable as a spa.
In addition, the Municipality of Villaguay decided to close the entrance to the park.
The search began immediately along with boats, bottom sweepers and private boats.
It was resumed at 6 a.m. on Monday and also this Tuesday at the same time, the Entre Ríos Police explained.
After expanding the search area downstream and after checking the dam this Tuesday at noon, local Volunteer Firefighters found the man's body.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office on duty ordered that the body be transferred to the Judicial Morgue of the city of Oro Verde, where the corresponding autopsy would be performed.
