A day after

Ryan Gosling

(43) was announced as a candidate for the Oscar for playing "Ken" in the movie "Barbie" alongside Margot Robbie, his actress wife

Eva Mendez

(49) jumped in with calls of support for her partner.

The two have been in a relationship since September 2011, with whom she gave birth to two daughters and there is no doubt that if there is anyone who should fly over this man besides us - it is absolutely her.

In an Insta post, Mendez published a screenshot of articles that criticized and doubted his ability to play the iconic Ken before the film was released, alongside photos of him from the successful film.

"Very proud of my man. There was so much hate the moment he took on this role. A lot of people tried to shame him for doing it," Eva wrote and continued: "Despite all the #NotMyKen ridicule and articles written about him, he created the character The original, funny, heartbreaking, now iconic and took her all the way to the Oscars."

Gosling's nomination for Ken - one of a total of eight nominations for the film 'Barbie' at the 96th Academy Awards - marks the third time in his career that he has been recognized by the Academy, following his roles in 2006's Half Nelson and La La Land in 2016.

The knotted actor responded to his nomination and, among other things, expressed disappointment that both his co-star

Margot Robbie

and their director

Greta Gerwig

were not nominated for the Best Actress or Best Director awards.

"No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without their talent, audacity and genius," Ryan told E! News.

"To say I'm disappointed that they weren't nominated in their categories would be an understatement. Against all odds with nothing but a pair of soulless, scantily clad dolls and thankfully, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts and made history."
