Social media is full of sweet animal stories that touch the hearts of many users.
Like in the case of two donkeys who are there for each other unconditionally.
Booberry and Chocula are donkey best friends.
They live on a farm in Austin, Texas, with a few goats.
Its owners run a successful channel on
TikTok under the name @wonderfluppets.
There they provide amusing insights into the everyday lives of their animals in numerous videos.
Donkeys are best friends - and won't let each other down even in times of need
It is noticeable that the two donkeys in particular obviously have a lot of nonsense on their minds.
Recently, one of her clips even went viral.
It shows Booberry and Chocula racing before Booberry falls and the fun ends abruptly.
But instead of triumphing over his victory, Chocula immediately returns to the scene of the accident, as the video description reads: "Booberry slipped in the mud...so Chocula rushed over to lie down with him."
And in fact, the loving donkey not only returns to his clumsy best friend, but also lies down in the dirt next to him without hesitation.
Appropriately, the song “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers plays alongside the video, which means something like “Lean on me” in German.
Lean on me When you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on... You just call for me, brother, when you need a hand We all need someone to lean on
Excerpt from the lyrics to “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers (1938-2020), American singer and songwriter

The friendships would not only have a positive impact on their well-being, but even on the animals' health.
In addition, the bonds are voluntary and do not serve the purpose of reproduction.
Other characteristics include “spatial proximity, social grooming, physical contact and food sharing,” according to the Internet science channel.
The scientist also showed that of the animal species studied, donkeys in particular preferred friendly relationships between two people.
Animals of the same age and similar nature are particularly likely to become friends.
