Under the Alexander III bridge, immersed in the light of the first full moon of the year, the creative director of Maison Margiela Artisanal, John Galliano, takes an ideal night walk in the heart of Paris with his new collection.

Intrigued by Brassai's voyeuristic portraiture, he thinks of the nocturnal revelers who meet at night along the Seine.

Here is the inspiration for the new collection that shows in Paris.

"A show - comments Renzo Rosso, president and founder of the Otb Group, of which the maison is part - which is true couture, with the highest values of the high fashion tradition. In recent times, unfortunately, I have seen big brands industrialise couture On the contrary, Maison Margiela has remained pure, a brand capable of bringing true works of art to the catwalk from which to take inspiration for creating collections. With this show the creative genius Galliano has marked a historic moment for the sector and once again elevated Maison Margiela thanks to his rare touch and his ability to find the perfect combination between extraordinary silhouettes, innovative treatments of materials, modernity and technology. He was able to recreate something that has been missing for a long time in the world of fashion, namely the dream. The public welcomed this show with enthusiasm and tears, so much so that wanted to leave the location more. The group wants to bring our Italian heritage to France. We are already present with well over 40 stores and with the Maison Margiela headquarters, but we intend to invest further in this territory".

In the collection the silhouettes are sculpted with corsets and belts that modify the body supported by prosthetics.

The basic wardrobe items, light jackets, coats and trousers, are constructed using the milletrage technique: a sort of millefeuille of organza and felt under a printed wool crepe with a trompe l'oeil of the texture of a classic men's suit.

Draped, watercoloured, the tulle is illusively printed to appear faded by the moon, bleached by the sun, stained with tobacco or oily as if illuminated by the reflection of night water.
