Gossip sites overseas reported during the last weekend that the comedian and veteran TV host
Jay Leno filed a guardianship request for his wife
Mavis
to the court
.
According to TMZ, Leno filed court documents after his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
A person close to the couple told the website that it is not known when the diagnosis was given and there is a possibility that her health condition does not allow her to function fully even now.
The couple married in 1980 and in an interview that Mavis gave seven years later, she provided a glimpse into the relationship, which was kept away from the spotlight: "I always knew I didn't want to get married, but when I met Jay I realized that this was the first relationship where I felt calm and whole, like I reached my destination."
