American-led negotiators are getting closer to an agreement under which Israel would suspend the war in Gaza for about two months in exchange for the release of over 100 hostages still held by Hamas: the New York Times writes, reporting that the agreement it could be signed in the next two weeks.
Negotiators have developed a written draft agreement that merges the proposals made by Israel and Hamas over the past 10 days into a basic understanding that will be the subject of talks in Paris on Sunday.
While there are still major disagreements to resolve, negotiators are cautiously optimistic that a final agreement is within reach, according to U.S. officials contacted by the NYT.
