The board of directors of the European House of Photography (MEP) met on Thursday February 15 and has just appointed its new president, Jacques Bungert, the man who bought Courrèges with Frédéric Torloting.
The opportunity therefore to take stock of his five years, crossed by the Covid crisis, with Simon Baker, director of the MEP.
LE FIGARO .- What assessment do you make of your five years at the head of the MEP (European House of Photography)?
Simon BAKER .-
In my opinion, the positive result is the renewal of the artistic vision of the MEP.
The challenge was to maintain the links with the history of photography which made the strength of the MEP in the past, but with a renewal of the programming and by transitivity a rejuvenation of the visitors.
I attribute this success to the team spirit that really works together, that creates content and long-term concepts in collaboration with the artists, rather than renting exhibitions from elsewhere.
