"I can only beg the judicial authority, President Orban, to release Ilaria Salis who protested against a group of neo-Nazis and neo-fascists in Budapest. Precisely against those who destroyed my family, deprived me of all my rights, made me lose my country of origin which is Hungary". This is the appeal launched by the Hungarian writer Edith Bruck in The Horse and the Tower, on Raitre.
"It seems to me that we are not in civilized Europe - added Bruck -. I believe that it is a shame not only for Hungary but for all of Europe that a girl can be brought to court tied like a dog. Bringing a girl to court tied by her hands and feet is a shocking image, you can't even comment on something like that. I don't want to get involved in politics but the politicians, especially President Meloni, who seems to have a good relationship with Orban, can make him intervene immediately and make this girl go home. The Italian government must work harder, much more. It's one of your citizens who is treated like a kind of bandit. It's strange that they don't protest more, that they don't do more. They have to do their utmost to bring their citizens home. It also depends on the Italian government ".
