The semi-finalists of the women's draw at the Miami Open, WTA 1000 tournament, were defined overnight.
The Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, number 16 in the world, overturned the prediction by eliminating the American Jessica Pegula (n.5, score 3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and will now face another American, Danielle Collins (n. .53), who in turn beat a better-ranked opponent, the French Caroline Garcia, seeded no. 23, in two sets (6-3, 6-2).
In the other semi-final, the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (n.4), favorite for the final success, and the former world number 1, the Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (n.32) face each other today.
