If you prepare hard-boiled eggs yourself for coloring, there are a few things you need to keep in mind if you want the colored eggs to last as long as possible. If the shell is intact, the eggs stay fresh for up to fourteen days at two to six degrees, reports the
consumer advice center
.
NDR
sees it a little differently
, saying that eggs can be eaten in the fridge for up to four weeks. The European Union recommends a general refrigerator temperature of five degrees. Norbert Endres, energy consultant at the Bavarian Consumer Center, believes eight degrees in the medium cooling range is more realistic. However, if you have quenched the eggs after cooking, you will shorten their shelf life, informs the
consumer advice center

What do I have to pay attention to when buying colored eggs?
If you buy hard-boiled eggs in the supermarket, there will be a best-before date on the package. You can use this as a guide. When buying eggs or painting them yourself, you should always rely on your senses. If the shell is damaged, you should eat the egg more quickly. If you cut the egg open and it is fibrous and has a strong smell, you should stop eating it.
