Turk to the BBC: 'Plausible case that Israel uses hunger as a weapon' (ANSA)


UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said in a BBC interview that Israel bears significant responsibility for the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and that there is a "plausible" case that Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza. Türk stated that if intent were proven, it would amount to a war crime. 

Meanwhile, the Hamas Ministry of Health has announced that the death toll in Gaza has risen to 32,552, of which 62 in the last 24 hours. The injured are 74,980, according to the same source.

Army: 200 terrorists killed so far in Shifa 

"Around 200 terrorists" were killed by the Israeli army in over a week of operations in the buildings of Gaza's Shifa hospital. This was announced by the Israeli military spokesperson, according to whom new firefights occurred yesterday with terrorists stationed "inside and near the emergency room building". Furthermore, according to the spokesperson, hundreds of members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were captured. "We operate with precision - reiterated the spokesperson - taking care not to cause damage to patients, medical staff and machinery".

Israel: at least 10 rockets launched from Lebanon, 9 shot down 

Tensions remain high between Israel and Lebanon. At least 10 rockets were fired this morning from Lebanon towards the border community of Shlomi. The army made it known, quoted by the media, adding that nine of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. At the moment there are no reports of damage or casualties. In response, Israeli artillery is striking across the border.
