They gave everything to appear in the Guinness Book of Records. On Wednesday April 17, hundreds of young ballerinas met at the Plaza Hotel in New York to try to beat the world record for the greatest number of dancers on tiptoes.
Inside the prestigious 5-star hotel, the 353 dancers had to support the weight of their bodies solely on their tiptoes for a minute. Additional difficulty, everyone had to maintain their balance at the same time for the performance to be validated.
A previous record with 306 dancers
When the organizers of the Youth America Grand Prix announced the new record, ballerinas from all American states exploded with joy. “I screamed and clapped. I was in shock, Amanda Toledo, 13, told the New York Post. I feel proud. » “I came here to break the record and we did it,” added Emma Power, 15 years old.
Young dancers also came from China, Japan, Germany and Portugal to participate in the event. “I am very happy to take part in something so special,” said another participant.
The previous world record in the Guinness Book dates back to September 10, 2019. Some 306 dancers then managed to stay on tiptoe for a minute.
