Turtle, broom, panties… Uber reveals the most unusual objects forgotten in its VTCs in 2023

Highlights: Uber reveals the list of the most unusual objects forgotten on board vehicles over the past year. In France, it is in Rennes that users of the application were the most distracted in 2023. Among the other unusual objects found on board VTCs, we find a Louis Vuitton dog leash, a dental splint, a clipper, or even... a broom. The days with the most items claimed are, in order, Saturday, Sunday, and Friday, undoubtedly a sign of a slackening of users during the weekend. In the U.S., a customer left a Gucci sweater, the 560 euros in cash, or the Nintendo Switch game console forgotten during their journey. The Toulonnais were those who had - proportionally - forgotten the most objects during the year 2022, and it is the Rennais who occupied the first place on the podium for the year 2023, ahead of the Angevins and... again the Toulonais. The French can rest assured that they are not the only ones to forget objects.

The French were once again heads in the air. Like every year for the past eight years, Uber reveals the list of the most unusual objects forgotten on board vehicles over the past year. If the cell phone, wallet and bunch of keys unsurprisingly remain the most frequently abandoned items, other more surprising objects have been found on board VTCs.

During this year 2023 partly marked by the Rugby World Cup, a passenger left a rugby jersey autographed by the vice-captain of the XV of France Gaël Fickou. Although forgotten ID cards are common, an Uber driver was surprised to find that of an American actor who played in the famous musical comedy “High School Musical”.

Among the other unusual objects found on board VTCs, we find a Louis Vuitton dog leash, a dental splint, a clipper or even... a broom. Even more surprising, this list revealed by the American multinational concerns objects which have been claimed by their owners. It is therefore amusing to see that some dazed passengers tried to recover objects that seemed innocuous in their Uber.

A passenger shamelessly contacted the VTC application to retrieve the 2 liter bottle of Oasis that he had forgotten in the vehicle. Others came to ask for a biscuit box, a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau, a (single) rain boot, a lipstick or even a blonde wig.

In the United States, a customer forgot his turtle

On the other hand, it is easier to understand why some people came to claim the Gucci sweater, the 560 euros in cash or the Nintendo Switch game console forgotten during their journey. Unsurprisingly, the days with the most items claimed are, in order, Saturday, Sunday and Friday, undoubtedly a sign of a slackening of users during the weekend.

While the Toulonnais were those who had - proportionally - forgotten the most objects during the year 2022, it is the Rennais who occupy the first place on the podium for the year 2023, ahead of the Angevins and... again the Toulonnais.

The French can rest assured, they are not the only ones to forget objects in Uber vehicles. In the United States, some passengers forgot a turtle, two boxes of live spiders, a paternity test, a fake pair of buttocks or even a thong, reveals the world leader in VTC reservations.
