(CNN) - Football fans can now officially get excited about the 2022 World Cup. FIFA has just presented the emblem of the Qatar World Cup, and attention has been paid to details.

FIFA says that the World Cup emblem is intended to embody the vision of "an event that connects and involves the entire world", while reflecting the culture in which the sporting event takes place.

The new emblem is white with distinctive brown markings that are both floral and geometric. It is assumed that the form resembles the number eight in the number of stadiums that will host football matches, and the infinity symbol, to signify the "interconnected nature of the event."

Culturally, the symbol resembles a wool shawl that is usually used by citizens of Arab countries and the Gulf in winter, which is when the 2022 World Cup will take place, according to FIFA.

The World Cup is normally held during the summer months. But the FIFA world governing body decided to move the 2022 tournament to the Qatari winter, due to fears about the intense summer temperatures in the Gulf state.

Qatar's winning candidacy was based on the premise that it would be held in June and July, but FIFA was forced to step back because of the concern for the safety of players and spectators.
