(CNN) - With a doodle of salty and delicious pretzel is how Google welcomes Oktoberfest, a 16-day celebration known as the Bavarian autumn festival.
Today's especially delicious Google doodle is a short video in tribute that shows how the pretzel mass is transformed into a delicacy of golden knots that so many people know and love.
Google said the pretzels were baked by a local German bakery in California.

"Today's Doodle, freshly baked by Esther's German Bakery, celebrates the unique and unparalleled pretzel, one of the most versatile and beloved foods in the world!", Said Google. "Like the Oktoberfest, the Bavarian autumn festival, begins today, Brotfrauen (or ladies of bread) will carry chewable Brezeln baskets through Bierhallen (massive tents) in Germany, the center of the Oktoberfest party."
What is the Oktoberfest?
The Oktoberfest, held from September 21 to October 6, began as a German festival before becoming a world festival that celebrates traditional German culture, food (including pretzels) and much, much beer.
