New York-Sana
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stressed that the United States is the main supporter of terrorism in the region.
Rouhani said in an interview with Fox News that "wherever the foot of the United States, we note the spread of terrorism," adding that "US intervention in Syria without the consent of the Syrian state gives a clear example of this terrorism in the region."
Rouhani criticized US President Donald Trump's policies, saying he had "lost ground in his criticism of Iran."
Rouhani stressed the necessity of the European countries to implement their obligations under the nuclear agreement as members.
During his meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the Iranian delegation in New York on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly, Rouhani expressed his deep regret over the recent statement by the three European countries, which are also members of the nuclear deal, about attacks on the Saudi regime's oil installations. "The issuance of such a baseless statement in these complex and sensitive circumstances is by no means constructive and useful," he said.
The Iranian president criticized London's failure to implement its commitments to benefit Iran from the economic benefits of the nuclear deal, considering the provision of positive economic climate among the obligations of the nuclear agreement.
Rouhani pointed to the project of hope or the Hormuz peace initiative, which is scheduled to be presented during his speech at the UN General Assembly meeting, stressing that the cooperation of the countries of the region is the only way to establish sustainable security and stability there.
For his part, the British Prime Minister stressed during the meeting that London is seeking to improve relations with Tehran, pointing out that his country has been and will continue to support the nuclear deal and has made great efforts to convince America not to get out of the agreement, but unfortunately did not succeed in that.
Johnson pointed to Iran's influential role in the region, hoping that the nuclear deal will continue and tensions in the region will be reduced.
President Rouhani arrived in New York on Tuesday to attend the 74th meeting of the UN General Assembly. He has so far met with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Swiss President Uli Maurer and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
