The Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Foreign Ministers condemned the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory and decided to consider urgent measures to confront it.
In a final statement issued by its extraordinary meeting in Cairo today, the council affirmed that the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory is a clear violation of the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions and constitutes a threat to Arab national security and international peace and security.
The statement stressed Syria's legitimate right to confront this aggression, calling on the international community to take urgent action to stop the Turkish aggression and withdraw from Syrian territory, blaming the Turkish regime for the spread of terrorism and the return of terrorist organizations, including the terrorist organization "Daesh".
The statement rejected any Turkish attempt to impose demographic changes in Syria, reiterating Syria's unity and sovereignty.
