German Foreign Minister Heiko Mas announced that his government has stopped exporting weapons to the Turkish regime against the backdrop of its aggression on Syrian territory.
"Given the Turkish military offensive in northeastern Syria, the federal government will not issue any new permits for any military equipment that Turkey could use in Syria," Deutsche Welle quoted Mas as telling Bild am Sonntag newspaper today.
Mas noted that the German government has implemented a very restricted route to export arms to Ankara since 2016.
The German foreign minister strongly condemned the days before the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory, stressing that it further destabilizes the region and strengthens the terrorist organization "Daesh".
