The meeting of the Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed, focused on the Islamic scholars, imams and preachers of mosques and preachers in Hama today on strengthening the role of clerics in the face of extremism and intellectual terrorism through relying on enlightened religious discourse crowned with reason.

During the meeting held at the Mohammed Badr al-Din Al-Hamed Mosque in Hama city, they stressed the need for intellectual reconstruction and correcting misconceptions about Islam to contribute to the return to the lofty principles and values ​​of the true Islamic religion.

A number of religious scholars, imams and preachers of mosques and preachers called for confronting the poisoned ideas about religion aimed at spreading the spirit of division and sedition, calling for arming enlightened thought and educating young people to understand their religion properly in order to contribute to the reconstruction of man and the country.

The Minister of Awqaf said in a statement to SANA that the meeting is part of a series of periodic meetings to adopt the best practices to combat extremism intellectually through the Koranic and prophetic texts and explain the inclusive interpretation and listen to the views of the clergy, noting the role of religious scholars in Hama and their tireless efforts to counter terrorist takfiri thought.
