The folklore festival in Tartous takes on a new look with the start of its fifth session

The 5th Folklore Festival, which started in Tartous yesterday to celebrate the Syrian Heritage Days, was marked by a new and remarkable way of displaying the traditional folklore by artisans wearing traditional folk costume that has been prevailing throughout Syria for decades.

The festival, held by the Directorate of Popular Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and the Directorate of Culture Tartous, touched on the beginning of the Assistant Minister of Culture Tawfiq Imam during a speech to the importance of heritage material and immaterial elements in various social and cognitive fields, The inherent and maintenance of its ideals to remain a national and national treasure.

Director of Tartous Culture Kamal Badran explained that the festival is held out of awareness of the importance of heritage for the fifth year in a row to offer a lot of Syrian heritage of crafts and arts and songs of a heritage nature.

The festival included a dance performance by the Tartous Folklore Ensemble at the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous, which included a collection of folkloric paintings, including a painting simulating the marine coastal environment and fishing.

Munther Ramadan, head of the Culture and Information Office at the Artisans Union branch, pointed out that this year the festival presents in its live exhibition ways of manufacturing some of the handicrafts such as making straw dishes, distilling rose water and producing honey and natural silk directly in front of the festival visitors in addition to the popular costume that prevailed in the regions. The ancient coast as well as the exhibition of crafts and heritage collections in the coast where 33 craftsmen and craftsmen presented some of their products in addition to folkloric performances and musical evenings of heritage.

Mohsen Al-Aji, a participant in the Heritage Collections pavilion, presented a collection of special collections such as oriental, loom, rugs and hand-made carpets.

Ahlam Badran, who has been working in the field of crochet for about 20 years and is involved in many exhibitions and heritage activities presented a range of children's clothes and toys made of wool material while Roger Ibrahim is working to create paintings of natural silk material that enables the craftsman to create many ideas and paintings Add art to the dresses.

The craftsman Namir Mohammed, who played the instrument of the Rababa with wearing the old folk dress, considered it a distinctive experience to highlight the true heritage on its origins and breathed into it again the presence of old crafts made directly, while the craftsman Badr Yousef brought the whole beehive in a glass container for visitors to know the festival closely Work and its stages that eventually reach the production of natural honey.

Jumana Ibrahim, known as the Lady of the Straw in Syria, found pleasure in the live exhibition, as the work is done in front of the festival's visitors, giving the craftsman a moral boost by encouraging the public to be our lofty message that we all have a tremendous heritage that we must preserve.

A concert was also held during the festival with the participation of poets Mohamed Al-Moua'i, Maan Mohammed, Talal Ammar and Ali Hassan, accompanied by musicians and performers.

It is noteworthy that the festival lasts until the thirty of this month in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous and includes many activities, events, seminars and evenings of traditional heritage.
