Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Susan met with a German parliamentary delegation headed by MP Frank Bazeman, Chairman of the Contact Group on Syria in Parliament.

Sosan briefed the visiting delegation on the latest developments in Syria and the region, reaffirming the continuation of the fight against terrorism until it is completely eliminated and an end to any illegal foreign presence on Syrian soil, stressing that the unity of Syria's land and people is a sacred and red line that will not allow anyone to cross it.

He also reiterated Syria's constructive engagement with any serious and sincere effort to get out of the current crisis.

Susan pointed out that the European Union, blindly following US policies, lost its compass and identity and became on the sidelines of events, which explains the state of loss and lack of credibility of the European project in a large part of the European public opinion.

For their part, members of the delegation expressed appreciation for the achievements in the field of combating terrorism and the return of stability to many Syrian areas and full understanding of the reality of the situation in Syria.

Members of the delegation reiterated their opposition to the EU's policy towards Syria, calling for the lifting of illegal unilateral coercive measures and support for Syria's reconstruction efforts to facilitate the return of Syrians forced by the current circumstances to leave the country.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Nadera Al-Sayyaf, Director of the Department of Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, and members of the People's Assembly Alain Bakr, Noura Erisian and Arif Al-Tawil.
