The Central Council for Persons with Disabilities (CCD) has announced that it will start accepting applications from persons with disabilities starting today to finance micro-projects from the council's budget in order to support and empower them economically, according to the council's secretary general Khawla Hanna.

The Secretary-General of the Council said in a statement to SANA that the proposal of the Central Council for Persons with Disabilities on granting financial grants to persons with disabilities to finance a micro-project amounting to one and a half million Syrian pounds was approved with a certificate of appreciation explaining that the funding is provided for the idea of ​​the project or for an existing pilot project. It can be developed.

The grant will be submitted at the age of 18 years. The grantees have the right to apply again after three years.

The proposal of the Central Council for Persons with Disabilities, according to its Secretary-General, was approved to present the Academic Excellence Award for students with outstanding disabilities at the governorate level in the high school certificate in its scientific and literary branches, amounting to half a million pounds and a certificate of appreciation in order to encourage them to study and scientific excellence.

She pointed out that these measures come in implementation of the National Plan for Persons with Disabilities to provide programs and services that provide solutions and practical support for them by easing obstacles to pursue their educational attainment and building their capacities to reach job opportunities that contribute to their further integration into society. Last year, persons with disabilities from university and government institutes offered a grant of 50,000 Syrian pounds for each academic year.

It is noteworthy that the Central Council for Persons with Disabilities was established in 2009 and includes representatives of seven ministries headed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in addition to representatives of a number of NGOs and persons with disabilities.
