A large number of residents in Ma'anshan were unable to transfer to buses to Dapu, North District, Science Park and other places at the University Station, which affected their work and school. A group of current and designate district members from Shatin District met with representatives of the Transport Department yesterday (28th) in the hope of formulating some temporary arrangements and discussing the current plans for improving the bus and minibus routes in Ma On Shan.

Yesterday, many current and designate members of Shatian District, including Mai Runpei, Zhong Liqian, Xu Lizheng, and Zheng Zhongheng, met with the Transport Department and put forward many suggestions on the traffic arrangements in the district. Among them, 87K and 87S minibuses were requested to return to the circular line service as soon as possible and pass through the Science Park; increase services for multiple bus lines such as 274p, 274s, and 286c; and study to increase traffic between Tseung Kwan O to Ma On Shan and from Wuxisha to the North Yuantiantun and other bus lines, as well as the need to retain shipping from Wuxisha to Dapu and so on.
District Councillor Zheng Zhongheng pointed out that due to the closure of the MTR University Station, traffic in Shatin District was also blocked, and the route to Tai Po and North District was most affected. Therefore, they have listed relevant suggestions together with the transportation supporting issues that they have noticed in the past, and hope that the Transport Department will consider them. He said that the agency that he saw yesterday only said that he would "follow up" and could not immediately contact the actual reply.

In addition, Zheng Zhongheng, another District Council Member-elect, Chen Yeming, and the current District Council Member, Rong Huizhou, also earlier suspended the 289K service to the Transport Department. Rong Yuzhou pointed out that although the neighbourhood understands that the university station needs time to repair, at present, if you want to go from Ma'anshan to the Science Park, you need to take a large circle to Tai Wai before transferring other traffic. He said that this arrangement is very inconvenient for residents. Therefore, I hope that the 289K line can be reopened as soon as possible. He also hopes that the Department can follow the temporary route 274S and open a bus route that passes through Dashui Hang and Ningtai Road to solve the urgent needs of residents.
