Five qualifying and training phases set by the Syrian Virtual University and the Excellence and Creativity Commission for the participants in the program for children and adolescents marathon for 2020, which announced the registration conditions in the twenty-fourth of this month.

The first phase of the marathon, which targets children from 8 to 11 years and adolescents from 12 to 15 years, according to a statement from the university and the authority, SANA received a copy of the first level test for participants according to each age group in order to assess their thinking skills and logical analysis. Under “Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced” levels based on test results.

In the second phase, training sessions will be conducted for the participants after their distribution in order to develop their skills in the areas of logical and computer thinking and programming languages.

Children and adolescents participating in the third phase are subjected to a second level qualification test by age group in order to test the skills and knowledge they have acquired during the training period, in which the participants who qualify for the final program for the children and adolescents marathon are determined according to the criteria set by the scientific supervision committees.

In the fourth phase, several intensive training sessions will be conducted for the qualifiers according to each age group in order to train them to understand and solve the issues raised with the best performance and the shortest possible time in preparation for their participation in the final marathon.

The fifth stage includes the final competition, which aims to test the optimal performance to solve several questions and implement a number of specific software tasks.

At the end of the competition, the results of the marathon will be issued and the first children and adolescents will be honored within each age group in addition to the distribution of various awards and certificates to the participants.

Malik Hammoud, Director of the Media Office of the Excellence and Creativity Authority, told SANA that the program is a journey towards the future through which we can reach the youngest age group in the field of informatics or programming and sponsor it within an integrated academic framework and disseminate the software culture. The use of computer, but the way of thinking and logical analysis, so that this segment can enter the active and firm entry into the world of knowledge economy at an early age and promote the idea of ​​teamwork and the spirit of competition among them.

In order for the vision of the marathon to be a development strategy at the national level, Hamoud points out, it was necessary to focus on two axes. The first is a horizontal expansion that aims to gradually reach children and adolescents throughout the Syrian geography by setting a goal of preparing 100,000 children and adolescents between 2020 and 2025. Intellectual, cognitive and skills in the fields of software technologies and the second vertical seeks to monitor cases of discrimination between children and adolescents and provide additional care for these cases in order to consolidate its leadership and excellence and highlight Syrian leadership at the national, regional and international levels.

The Syrian Virtual University and the Commission of Excellence and Creativity announced the conditions of registration in the marathon, which is held in cooperation with the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and registration will continue until the fifteenth of December next.

The new season is scheduled to begin in the first month of 2020, and is expected to include 5,000 children and adolescents after the last season included 1573.
