Syria and Russia confirmed that the United States once again thwarted the evacuation of displaced persons it is holding in tragic conditions in the Rukban camp in the al-Tanf area on the Syrian-Jordanian border.
The Syrian and Russian coordinating bodies on the return of displaced Syrians expressed in a joint statement today `` concern about the disruption of the implementation of the new UN plan to evacuate the residents of Rukban camp due to the US refusal to fulfill its obligations '' to end the suffering of detainees in the camp and allow them to go out and return to their areas free of terrorism.
The statement renewed the call on the US side to "not hinder the exit of internally displaced persons from the camp and to fulfill the promises made previously to ensure the safety of UN convoys and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent."
"It is impractical to transfer humanitarian aid to the Rukban area because it does not reach all civilians held in the camp and the Syrian state is ready to provide basic services to all returnees from the camp as soon as they arrive in their areas free of terrorism or control," it said.
The statement said that Syria and Russia "recall that the responsibility for the security and safety of UN convoys and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent is entirely on the American side within the territory of the US-occupied al-Tanf area," noting that "the provision of life for the terrorist groups supported by Washington in the area of al-Tanf and the vicinity of the camp." Rukban must be at the expense of the Americans independently and not at the expense of international humanitarian aid, "which is sent exclusively to displaced persons held in the camp.
The statement warned of the increase in the number of victims in the camp with the beginning of the winter season, especially as the camp lacks the most basic means to enable its displaced residents to face these harsh conditions due to the convoys of aid convoys that were sent in cooperation between the Syrian State and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to the camp's residents.
