A letter written by a group of sixth grade students at the National Private School of Latakia and addressed to the headmaster of their school and expressed the desire “to do volunteer work to clean any beach, garden and street within the city” The idea of ​​a voluntary clean-up campaign started by the students of the school today in a number of neighborhoods Lattakia in cooperation with its city council and support from the province.

The principal of the school, Elias Fayyad, told SANA that the school's motto is based on four rules, which are manifested in 'cleanliness is the first followed by discipline, activity and behavior', which has devoted a conscious culture to students, especially that cleanliness is reflected in all the meanings of sophistication, civilization and beauty.

Fayyad explained that the students' message for a voluntary campaign for hygiene had a special impact in the school, especially that it was issued by students in the primary stage, which showed their awareness and love for the city and community work, which led us to coordinate with the city council to carry out the campaign and provide the requirements for its success.

Fayyad pointed out that the campaign is symbolic and with the participation of cleaners on the grounds that attention to cleanliness is not the responsibility of municipal workers alone, but also the citizen, stressing that the aim of this campaign is to spread a culture of hygiene and promote the behavior of the citizen to preserve the environment and the associated physical health and beauty of the soul and the eye. .

Fayyad noted the support provided by Lattakia governorate and its city council, which included preparing safety aspects for students on the targeted roads and using gloves and masks to maintain the safety of students and the participation of the administrative staff in the school and parents of the students to be more comprehensive benefit.

School students and participants in the campaign moved in several neighborhoods in the city and lifted the garbage with the help of cleaners in the sweeping of streets and sidewalks, from the market of merchants in front of the school building, through Ugarit Square, Al Quwatli Street and Sheikh Daher Square, passing through the Martqla neighborhood to end in Al Orouba Park.

Board member Bashar Bitar pointed out the importance of positive interaction with the students' message and its implementation on the ground and community participation with the campaign and the parents of the students and the dissemination of this experience to include all events in the future, reflecting on the beauty and cleanliness of the city.

The chairman of the city council, Dr. Nabil Abu Kaf, said that the council seeks to benefit from this experience and disseminate it to other sectors in cooperation with various institutions and unions in addition to strengthening the work of the Directorate of Hygiene.

The letter of the students Risan Khedro and Bisan Sheikha and Ral Qudsiya arrived and realized their desire to clean several neighborhoods in the city along with their school colleagues and administrative and educational staff, but their basic message carried a more comprehensive character and their desire to reach all the people of Latakia and its countryside that cleanliness is a participatory work to remain this most beautiful city.
