The European Commission today called on the Turkish regime to stop its destabilizing policies and practices in the region and adhere to good-neighborly relations.
"Turkey should respect international legislation and observe good-neighborly relations, where dialogue must be used to resolve all differences and problems," said Peter Stano, spokesman for EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Foley.
EU foreign ministers agreed last month to impose economic sanctions on the Turkish regime for violating international law by exploring for gas off the coast of Cyprus.
