Today for the rights of people with disabilities: Everyone is equal and special, it's time we get it

There are about a million and a half disabled people in Israel - a huge number. Most of us dream is to integrate into society and do things like anybody. It is nice to see that there is progress here and it is important to know that our society is changing and accepting us as part of it, but there are many other things that need to change here. A word of me

I'm a Guy Ron and I want to be treated with love and respect. 25. She lives in Tel Aviv. I have two amazing parents and sisters who are sometimes distressing, like everyone else. But, there is something else that is important and great that characterizes me - I am autistic, who cannot speak but has something to say. Most of all, I want them to be heard, treated and understood. Not because I'm autistic, but because I'm smart, fluent, and funny. Because I have something to say and I believe you should listen. I want to talk through silence. Sometimes I also scream through the mute. strong. To hear.

On the occasion of the Special Needs Awareness Day which is being held today (Tuesday), I would like to engage a little with us, the Special Needs. This term, this definition, this name, includes blind, deaf, autistic, people with muscular dystrophy and many, many others. What characterizes them all is disability, physical or emotional.

Did you know that about a million and a half citizens in Israel are defined as having special needs? Relative to the size of the population in Israel, this is a huge number. I try to think of the fact that there are so many citizens who are defined as people with special needs, how difficult it is for them to integrate here, and how many of them really succeed in living with respect in our society. This task seems almost impossible to me today. I would like you to understand what difficulties we go through each day and what we are dealing with regularly. Or at least try to understand.

For most autistic people it is very difficult to wait patiently. Lee Guy Ron

Here are some examples of the autistic life I know. I guess there are a lot of different examples of other special needs people. For example, we find it difficult to travel to different places, because the buses are like traps for us, a bit confusing and always accompanied by staring and staring at us. Anyone who thinks these looks are not noticeable, like arrows that are stabbed in the body, then he is big wrong; Or various cultural shows, the beginning of which is always late.

For those who do not know, for most autistic people it is very difficult to wait patiently, perhaps as well as for most people in Israel, only that it really can drive us crazy. There are many more simple and simple examples of this. Very frustrating that everything is accompanied by difficulties. These difficulties make us more easily irritated. Often times, I just give up different offers, because it's clear to me that this will be complicated.

I don't think it's clear to you that most of us dream of integrating into society, living just like everyone else. Find work, buy clothes and groceries, go out and do shows, do sports, see exhibitions and movies, just like anybody.

A beautiful new venture is the "quiet shopping" venture. This means two hours a week, where there will be no loud music and announcements in the malls. I think almost all autistic people are really hard with loud noises in the malls. This is also how we are there as in the middle of a central station. Some of us have a very sensitive sense of hearing, accompanied by limitations of absorption and attention. Many and powerful sounds are really painful to most of us in our ears. This is why some of us also put hands on our ears. This is a very stereotypical sign of autism. Therefore, it is usually difficult for us to walk around the shopping malls during normal hours, and certainly not to shop for our needs. I was very happy to hear about this venture, and congratulations to its initiators.

Another important venture is the establishment of a new communication tool, where only or mainly people with special needs will work, the communication site "equal". The importance of the venture is that it addresses two equally important matters: one is the granting of jobs to people with special needs, and when I say "jobs," I mean jobs that respect the capabilities of the employee. Not a job that requires zero challenge effort, but a job that is challenging and developing, fun to reach and engage with. Like mine in "Walla! NEWS."

The second is to give expression to people with special needs in communication. Again, something on the Walla site! NEWS got everyone ahead and did, but this time it's probably a lot of jobs for a lot of people. The expression of people with special needs in communication is very important, both for us and for the benefit of the society in which we live. There is another important matter and it is experience. Most reputable jobs have to come with work experience. It is very difficult to get a job without experience even when you or a "normal" person. Now, add "special needs" and get "impossible". I am very happy to have such a tool for training those with special needs of all kinds. really fun.

It is very, very nice to see that there is progress in Israel. It is important to know that our society is making change and accepting us as part of it. There are many other things that need to change here, but there is a shift in the positive direction, and maybe that is something.

In any case, it is important that there be more jobs, not only in the media but also in most other fields and professions. Everyone who can integrate into normal educational settings should already have it from kindergartens and elementary schools, and most of all, as a society, we have to accept that everyone is equal and unique. Enough with the looks, and without mercy. we are all equal. If only this were accepted by our public, there would be a better company here in all areas and all aspects. That's my message to you. A word of me.
