Brussels-SANA

Agnes Kalamard, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial executions, has called on the European Union and the United States to do more about uncovering the circumstances of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at his country's consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

"The world has not done enough to retaliate for the killing of Khashoggi," Kalamard told reporters, referring to the need to acknowledge that the international community has failed to fulfill its duty to ensure there is no possible immunity or impunity for Khashoggi's murder.

Kalamard confirmed on October 25 that the murder of Khashoggi at his country's consulate in Istanbul was planned and involved Saudi officials.

In an earlier report, Kalamard concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was personally responsible for the Khashoggi killing.``Many of the House of Representatives and Senators who have received information from American intelligence have repeatedly said publicly that Salman is responsible, '' Kalamard said.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi regime resorted during the last period to try to mislead public opinion and to distract attention from the involvement of officials, led by Ibn Salman murder Khashoggi through the announcement of a mock trial of 11 people described as involved in the crime and in the first session of their trial earlier this year This system has the death penalty for five of them.
