There is 'great expectation' in Assisi for the ceremony to hand over to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella of the Lamp of Peace, Saturday morning in the Upper Basilica of Assisi. "It will be a day of celebration" stressed the Franciscan community.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on the sanfrancesco.org website and on the official Facebook page dedicated to St. Francis.
According to the program announced by the Sacred Convent, Mattarella will arrive in the lower square of San Francesco at 10.20 am and will be welcomed by the custodian, Father Mauro Gambetti. He will then go to the tomb of the Poverello.
At 10.30 there will be the delivery of the Lamp in the upper Basilica where Mattarella will attend the recording of the Christmas Concert which will be broadcast on Rai1 on December 25th at 12.30 after the message Urbi et orbi by Pope Francis.
