The roof on the upper left was knocked open. Several passengers were injured and someone was thrown out of the car. At least six people were involved. 39 people were killed and injured. The wounded were taken to four hospitals for treatment. It is reported that the male driver had a water bottle on the front of the car at the time. At least three men and three women died in the incident, and 39 people were injured as of 8:15 pm, of which 10 were taken to Nethersole Hospital, 7 were stable and satisfied, and 3 were discharged; 12 were sent to Pok Oi Hospital , 2 were in serious condition, 9 were stable and satisfied, and 1 was discharged; 8 were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital, 3 were serious, and 5 were stable and satisfied. A number of injured persons in the North District Hospital were taken to the hospital by ambulance, including five men and five women. One woman was certified dead, one was serious, nine were stable and satisfied, and one was discharged. Most of the wounded were awake when they were taken to the North District Hospital, and some were bandaged.

According to on-site information, the driver involved was about 56 years old. He started work at 6 am this morning. At about 3 pm, he drove from Wan Chai North to Fanling and passed the Fanling Highway site at about 4 pm. He put water bottles on the front of the car. At that time, the water bottle fell. When he was holding the water bottle in the car, he was accidentally "twisted to the pan".
