Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed with the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, Iraj Masjid, bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran and the need to develop them.
In a statement to the Iraqi presidency, SANA received a copy of it, said that Saleh and two mosques "affirmed the common ties and interests between Iraq and Iran and the need to strengthen and develop bilateral relations to serve the common interests of the two peoples, as well as the importance of supporting stability in Iraq and respecting the Iraqi national will to reform without external interference."
The statement added that the meeting "focused on the fact that a stable, independent Iraq is a basic pillar of security, regional understanding and an arena for convergence of international and regional interests to serve the well-being and peace of the peoples and countries of the region on the basis of common interests."
