A young man died and 53 people were injured in a number of governorates as a result of indiscriminate shooting and firecrackers yesterday night by the New Year 2020.

A source in the Damascus Police Command told a SANA delegate today that a 17-year-old young man died after being hit in the head by live bullets in a number of Damascus neighborhoods and squares.

The source added that ten other people were wounded, including a girl, a child, 4 and 7 years, and two women, noting that they had left the hospitals that they treated after receiving the necessary treatment.

In Lattakia, about 32 people were injured, most of them lightly.

Latakia Health Director Dr. Hawazen Makhlouf said in a statement to a SANA reporter that 8 injuries, all of them were not serious, were received at the ambulance department at the National Hospital in Latakia, and they were discharged from the hospital after the necessary aid was provided.

In turn, Dr. Loay Naddaf, the director of Tishreen University Hospital, explained that the number of injuries that came to the hospital yesterday night was about 24, including 15 with firecrackers and nine with gunshot wounds, some of which required surgery and graduated most of them except for three cases that remained in the hospital to complete the treatment.

In Hama, Dr. Ahmad Jihad Aburah, the Director of Health, stated that the indiscriminate shooting resulted in four injuries, two in the Al-Aliliyat neighborhood and one in the South Al-Malaab neighborhood and the same in the university housing, pointing out that the injured were hospitalized to receive the necessary treatment.

In Homs, a SANA reporter quoted a source in the provincial police headquarters as saying that a man and a woman were injured by random bullets during the New Year celebrations.

In Aleppo, a SANA reporter reported that a medical source received two injuries as a result of indiscriminate bullets, who were transferred to the University Hospital, while no injuries were reported to Al-Razi Hospital.

In Tartous, Dr. Emad Mashhour, director of the General Authority of Baniyas Hospital, mentioned that three cases had been received at the hospital due to random bullets, and all of them had received the necessary aid and had been graduated.
