Horrifying: In a fire that broke out in the Krefeld Zoo in West Germany, many animals died while imprisoned in their cages. Local media reported that the fire probably broke out because of fireworks fired on New Year's Eve.

In the garden, the monkey's house was burnt to the ground and all the animals we lived in were found dead. The DPA reported that according to officials, the animals that died in the fire - chimpanzees, orangutans, two gorillas, fruit bats and birds.

The garden noted that the nearby gorilla was not on fire and the gorilla family he lived in survived.

Following the difficult event, the zoo posted on its Facebook page a special mourning message that reads: "Tonight one of our biggest fears came true. An unimaginable tragedy happened to us after midnight. All of our monkey house burned down. However, we thank all the citizens and people who contacted us with suggestions to help the garden and the animals that survived the fire. "
