The al-Asad area base in Iraq, which houses US troops, has been attacked with at least 10 missiles that fell Tuesday night in the desert west of Iraq, the Agence France Press news agency reported .
Iranian state television said the attack had been launched as part of a revenge operation in Tehran, The Associated Press reported .
This attack occurs after pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq promised to respond to the US attack with a drone that killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi military chief Abu Mahdi al Muhandis on Friday.
