A senior psychiatric treatment manager told Walla! NEWS that the court-appointed professional committee ruled that Queen Leiper is eligible to stand trial despite heavy pressure from the other side. He said "these psychiatrists are heroes." He added that the decision "raises ethical questions" against the opinion previously given in the case.

Senior Director of the psychiatric treatment unit who spoke to Walla today (Thursday) NEWS welcomed the Professional Committee's decision that Queen Leiper is eligible to stand trial, but warned her members are expected to face degrading court investigations by Queen Leiper's lawyers who will try to appeal their professionalism.

"These psychiatrists are heroes, not only because of the faithful opinion they wrote and the pressures they exerted, but because they need to be investigated. It's not a laugh," the director said. "These psychiatrists are straight as a ruler. They are top-notch professionals," he added. He explained that the committee made this decision despite the pressures from the other side, "There are probably a lot of bodies with a lot of money protecting Queen Liper."

The battle over determining whether Leiper is eligible to stand trial against the backdrop of her mental state has been at the center of the affair since her 2014 exposure. Since then, officials who have been in her favor have tried to prove this claim through various opinions. "It is very interesting that an objective panel that does not receive money, which does the job as part of its public office, made this decision compared to people who receive a great deal of money for the private pocket," added the senior manager in the psychiatric treatment system. "This raises very ethical and problematic questions about opinions previously given to Ms. Leifer's procedure."

Queen Leiper has been charged with dozens of sex offenses in Australia, and her extradition has been frozen because of various opinions about her mental state. Leiper was charged with committing dozens of minor sex offenses she attended at the ultra-Orthodox "Ada Israel" seminar in Melbourne, which she conducted from 2001 to 2008. She fled to Israel before being prosecuted in Australia. In early 2014, Australia sought to extradite Israel - which began a legal battle to this day.

In September, the Jerusalem District Court decided to appoint a panel of experts to discuss the state of mind, due to "numerous flaws in the District Psychiatrist's opinion, which, among other things, were based on erroneous facts presented to doctors, which affected their opinion prior to the opinion."

Tal Gabay and Yehuda Fried, Leifer's attorneys, said: "There is no surprise in the opinion submitted to the court. It is important to emphasize that two previous opinions that determined Leiper to impersonate and qualify for trial were completely rejected by the court after a trial." They added that "we expect this to be the case with this opinion. We will refer to the opinion in court in a matter of fact."

The court's expert team ruled: Queen Leiper - eligible to stand trial
