US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that House Intelligence Committee chief Adam Schiff will lead a team of seven Democrats who will try President Donald Trump in the Senate, according to Reuters.
The majority leader in the US Senate, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, announced yesterday that Trump's trial may begin next Tuesday after the procedures for appointing key officials for this judicial process are completed later this week.
Schiff was appointed as chairman of the Trump trial team, according to a House of Representatives decision expected later today, while Pelosi confirmed on Monday that hearings in the Trump inquiry into investigation had found sufficient evidence to isolate him in the Senate's trial.
Trump's trial comes at a critical time for his administration, as this year's presidential election fever escalates.
Senators asked Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Claubechar, Corey Booker and Mike Bennett to be the jury members at the trial.
