Honduras: a new caravan of migrants is prepared 2:27

(CNN Spanish) - The president of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, said that before the imminent arrival of a new caravan of migrants from Honduras and El Salvador who intend to reach the United States, he instructed the National Migration Institute to request documentation to verify that minors old travel with their parents.

Giammattei said that protecting migrant children is a duty of the State.

The president also revealed that during a meeting on Wednesday with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, the foreign minister warned him that the Government of Mexico will not allow the migrant caravan to pass through Mexican territory

“We will give a warning to those migrants who are likely to be able to reach the border but from then on they will run into a wall that they will not be able to penetrate and we believe that several of them will give up and that others when they run into the wall and have failed to comply with CA4 we will return them to their country, ”said Giammattei.

Ebrard confirmed on his Twitter account that migration was one of the topics discussed during his meeting with Giammattei in Guatemala City, however he offered no further details.

CNN has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is waiting for a response.
