The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order today on forming a working group to prepare proposals to amend the constitution.

"The head of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council Andrei Klishas has been appointed and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation Pavel Krashnikov and academic at the Russian Academy of Sciences Talia Kharibeva, to co-chair the working group," said a statement issued by the Kremlin, according to Sputnik news agency.

In his annual message to the members of the Federal General Assembly, Putin stressed that there is no need for a new constitution in the country, expressing the hope that the basic principles of constitutional order, human rights and freedoms for other decades will remain a solid and comprehensive base for Russian society.

The president’s message to the Federal Assembly, according to the constitution, is one of the duties of the head of state, as he presents his assessment of the situation in the country and identifies the main directions of domestic and foreign policy for the next stage, and it is a legal political document that reflects the president’s vision of strategic directions in the field of Russia’s development in the near future.
