This evening, shooting took place inside the US Air Force Base McGee Tyson, Tennessee, without reports of any injuries.
"The security forces have now closed the doors of the base and are responding to fire at the Air Force Base of McGee Tyson Air Force," the Associated Press quoted police spokesman in Knoxville County as saying.
The US police reported that they were conducting a sweeping operation of the area surrounding the base, while Air Force spokesman Traversh Horst indicated that the situation is still under investigation, indicating that a student at the base witnessed a man carrying a weapon firing from him.
Two municipal employees were killed last month and two others were wounded by gunfire in a public works building in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
