When signing the agreement in the White House, Trump said the deal would "change" the United States economy. China's deputy prime minister, representing Beijing, Liu Ha, said the agreement was based on "equality and mutual respect" and protected his country's economic model.
As part of the agreement, China promised to increase imports from the United States to $ 200 billion more than its level in 2017 and strengthen intellectual property protection laws. The United States, for its part, agreed to reduce some of the tariffs it imposed on Chinese goods. However, most protective caps remained, prompting business officials to call for further talks between the parties.
