According to a preliminary investigation report published on its official website, "Investigators discovered that two Tor-M1 missiles were launched at the aircraft," it said. They added that the investigation is ongoing to assess their impact on the fatal accident.
The findings were published while Iran was requesting special equipment from the United States and France, which it said would allow it to download the information from the aircraft's black boxes. However, the Civil Aviation Authority said it had not yet received a positive response from relevant officials in the United States and France.

Canada, Ukraine and other countries whose citizens were on the flight, with all 176 passengers killed when the plane crashed on January 8, asked Iran to send flight data and recordings from the cockpit to experts outside the country for the incident analysis. However, in Tehran only conveyed contradictory messages about their willingness to deliver the black boxes, which may reveal further embarrassing details about the incident that heightened international pressure on it.
Canada, with 57 citizens on the Boeing 737, said France was the best place to send the black boxes, as it is one of the few countries in the world with the ability to read them. Iran is already facing demands for the compensation of the victims' families, many of whom have dual Iranian citizenship, and a comprehensive investigation.
