(by Monica Paternesi) " Looking into the eyes of the country and giving strength to those who are already on the move. The powerful people of the world and the economy gather in Davos who, with serious and guilty delays, deal with the climate crisis; Assisi brings together very different worlds that together have the opportunity to leverage the economy, society and institutions. It is a manifesto that calls for action ". So Ermete Realacci president and founder of Symbola and author of that Manifesto of Assisi that will be presented on Friday in the Franciscan city summarizes in an interview with ANSA the idea at the root of this initiative which aims to be a decisive lever for a turning point of the national economy towards sustainability, an opportunity for companies and institutions to create a system for a green Italy. The manifesto, first signatories Ermete Realacci, the Custos of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, father Mauro Gambetti, the director of San Francesco magazine, father Enzo Fortunato, the president of Coldiretti, Ettore Prandini, that of Confindustria, Vincenzo Boccia, the managing director Enel, Francesco Starace, and Novamont, Catia Bastioli has already collected more than 1,700 signatures and aims to exceed 2,000 by Friday.
"An idea that - explains Realacci - focuses on at least three major strengths. First of all, the fact that an economy on a human scale against the climate crisis to decline with the courageous need to change is also an opportunity". "Secondly, the need for this challenge to be broadly transversal: it is not a challenge for the economy, it is a challenge that must hold businesses, society and values together". He quotes Einaudi Ermete Realacci to underline his reasoning: "Whoever seeks economic remedies for economic problems is on a false path; which can only lead to the precipice. The economic problem is the aspect and consequence of a wider spiritual problem. and moral ". And, he continues "just look at the variety of the first signatories of the Assisi Manifesto, large companies but also small realities representative of an idea. The Manifesto therefore relies on a transversal approach between worlds that are both economic and value-oriented".
"Third point, Italy does not start from scratch at all: I underline, there is nothing wrong with Italy that cannot be corrected with what is right exists in Italy. There is already a good part of the Italian economy and of companies that have taken the path of the green economy and the circular economy. Much of the Italian development starts from this.
In short, the roots are already there and they intersect a lot with the Catholic and Franciscan culture and the goal is to recover these roots as a matter for the future ". Also because, says Realacci, those who thought in these terms and knew how to invest on the green have won. Enel started from afar and grew to become the world's leading company in the sector with Green Power; Trump instead set up an important part of his campaign on coal but the coal industry still loses pace. " What about politics? "Politics is back for now. But with a common mission we can keep the country together and face the problems we have; and it is a mission on which Europe can also be rebuilt. And herein lies the great foresight of the new President of the Commission EU, Ursula Van del Leyen ". (ANSA).
