Around the world

Card change is considered a complex procedure, costing tens of hundreds of dollars • In light of the Corona virus outbreak, El Al decided to provide the service for free

The panic of the Chinese virus persists, and after more than 1,300 people worldwide have contracted the virus (about 1,200 of them in China itself), airlines around the world are having to deal with quite a few questions and cancellations following the alarming situation.

El Al recently announced that its customers who are scheduled to fly to China in the next two weeks will be able to change the airline ticket at no cost. This is not an obvious benefit at all, as changing airline tickets is considered expensive, and can range from a few tens to several hundred dollars, depending on the conditions of the ticket.

Other airlines flying to China are Hainan and Sichuan, with the former announcing that it will also allow its passengers to make changes to tickets purchased by the 24th of the month, and the second has not yet responded. Hong Kong, which is considered a special administrative area of China, has been identified as five cases, but there are currently no special directions on the destination to which many Israelis arrive on direct flights from "Cathay-Pacific" and EL AL.

At the same time, many tourist sites in China were closed due to the situation, including Disney Park in Shanghai, Forbidden City, Shanghai Museum, Pearl Tower, Shanghai Historical Zoo and quite a few other sites.

El Al said: "El Al will allow its customers who hold a plane ticket to China for departures in the next two weeks, to change the flight date free of charge and change fees."
