The Foreign Ministry issued a travel warning on Friday that travel to China at this time should be avoided for fear of contracting the corona virus. "At a hearing today between the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and the delegations in China, it was decided that the travel warning for China would be updated stating that the Foreign Ministry recommends that citizens not travel to China at this time and that Israeli citizens located in China will consider whether to leave the country as soon as possible." So far, the virus has taken the lives of 213 people, mostly in China, and infected more than 7,000.

The statement also states that "despite the cancellation of direct flights between China and Israel, it is still possible to leave China through Europe or certain destinations in Asia and arrive in the country."

The Foreign Ministry added that the Israeli delegations in China continue to operate normally, and to deal with the few Israelis in the country. The Israeli diplomats in China also feel that there is no shortage of basic products and food and are ready to continue the activities of the delegations. Representatives are also in contact with authorities in China that are making efforts to address the spread of the virus.

Yesterday, Health Minister Yaakov Litzman announced at a special Health Ministry meeting convened to examine ways to deal with the Corona virus that flights from China to Israel would be discontinued at this time, and no entry will be permitted until further notice. Many countries around the world have stopped entry from China, following the spread of the virus. Minister Litzman said that "after consultations and discussions in recent days, we have made all kinds of decisions about the Corona virus from China." He noted that the virus had spread to various parts of the world, including Europe. "It requires us to look after and see what we can and should do to keep our population safe," Litzman added.

He said, "First of all, we do not currently authorize entry into the country from China until further notice." Minister Litzman explained that "those who come from China, even those who do not come directly, we will also check them - that is, we have decided that everyone who comes and may infect should stay at home for two days." According to Litzman, "We are continuing Europe's policy." He even added that "here and there you can get a little worse, it's not bad." He said that today there was a forced hospitalization at Sheba Hospital, and several hospitalizations were suspected of being infected with the virus. "To our delight, there was not a single case in the country," the minister said.
