Reuters reports that the outbreak of the new coronavirus has caused a wave of anti-China sentiment around the world, including shops banning Chinese tourists and online mockery.
"China has always been very friendly to us, and we have to show them the same kindness. Stop this xenophobia," Duterte said at a press conference after meeting with relevant agencies on the new crown virus epidemic.

"They accused the Chinese that (the virus) came from China, but that could also be lurking elsewhere," Duterte assured the public that there was no reason to panic, and that the Philippines "is all right." "It's not anyone's fault. It's not the fault of the Chinese, it's not the fault of the Filipinos, it's not the fault of anyone," Duterte said.
The Chinese Embassy in Manila said on January 31 that it is closely monitoring the spread of the Philippine epidemic and has strengthened communication with the Philippine government.
